CCNA Connecting Devices (Day 2)

With my interest in networks, I decided it would be a good idea to start working towards my CCNA certification while I’m finishing up and prepping for my Network+ exam.

Lab #1 has a focus on cable types and functions, those being cross-over vs. straight-through and twisted-pair vs. fiber. Even though MDI-X exists, I’m pretending it’s not enabled for the extra practice of using a cross-over when it’s needed.

For each connection of different type I used a straight-through cable, and for every connection of same type I used a cross-over cable to allow transmission and receiving of signals. Distance was also a factor here for choosing cables, and for distances over 100 meters I opted to use multi-mode fiber, then for anything over 550 meters I used single-mode fiber.

There are red triangles indicating errors, but the focus here is getting the cable types correct.
